Skills Audit

I have a lot of experience using Desk Top Publishing software, I can create text boxes, change text size, insert text, change size or colour of text. I can also layer objects, change order of objects and rotate objects. I can also chnage the layout and format of the page by using different colours and moving objects to the correct position.

In Photoshop I can add or delete backgrounds or images, change the opacity of an image, layer images, select a section of an image and delete or change the style or format of the section. I can add text, crop, remove red eye, clone, blur and make the image sharper.

I have only used a camcorder once so I can't remember how to load the tape, in camera edit, how to zoom and using different settings like black and white. I have used a tripod on a digital camera so I think it would be similar to a camorder.

I have only used editing software once and I really enjoyed using it but I need a reminder on how to do the different techniques like capturing footage, cut footage, move footage, change time speed, add effects, remove sound, add soundtrack, create movie and rewind images.

Other skills with technologies I have is with a digital camera, I can do most basic things like zoom and macro setting but I would like to learn about other skills.

Aims for the new soap opera promotion package

The Aim of the the promotion for a new soap opera is to create a TV trailer, a magazine front cover featuring the soap and a poster of the soap. The title of the sopa opera is undecided and the genre is young people soap opera.

The representations that will be used is different stereotypes of teenagers for example in the soap advert we were thinking of a local stud, who is a ladies man, typical chav, bussiness, work focused woman, geek, rebellious teenager and a sporty boy.

The target audience of the soap opera is young people aged from 15-25. The interests of teenagers is romance between boys and girls and different stereotypes that they can relate to in their life. The similar media or knowledge we will use is the soap opera is Hollyoaks which has storylines based on young people. They also have a similar target audience to the soap we want to create.

The soap is going to be apart of a big institution like channel 4, Hollyoaks is also shown on channel 4 and the channel is watched by most teenagers.

Ideas for soap trailer

Name: Disturbance Street
When: Weekdays at 7:00pm on Channel 4
Length of trailer: 1 min-1.5 minutes
Filming location: Studio
Number of character that appear in the trailer: 6
Influence examples: Hollyoaks

Videos ideas: Hollyoaks- Strightly Not for the faint Hearted. The video is really clever because it uses intertexuality with Strightly Come Dancing; a few characters in the soap are dancing and giving each other funny looks. There is splashing wine and evil looks. We are going to use the idea of a catwalk. The catwalk will be situated on the street or in a studio and there will be tension between the different characters.

Storyline: A love triangle between the rebellious chav, bad boy and business woman. The two woman fight over the “local stud of the street”; as they walk down the catwalk pulling each other’s hair.

Lighting: Stand up lamps and spotlights to create the catwalk effect.

Detailed Narrative: The local stud walks done the catwalk and half way down, he is joined by the typical chav who links his arm. The business woman then walks on the catwalk and links the local studs other arm and the typical chav pushes the independent woman and the local stud walks off the catwalk, the two girls start fighting, pulling each other hair, stamping on each other feet and then the career focused woman pushes the chav on the floor and finishes her walk up the catwalk. The typical chav jumps onto the back of the career focused woman and pulls her hair. They walk off and the chav pushes the camera.
The next shot

Theory: Collective identity of teenagers
Stereotypes
- Unemployed Chav
- Stud, bad boy and ladies man
- Independent career focussed business woman
- Rebellious trouble seeking teenager
-Geek
-Sporty boy

Camera shot: high angles to show authority and quick cuts.Sound track:
